A new debut novel, The Rook, by Australian author Daniel O'Malley is picking up some good coverage from critics and readers alike (it currently has an Amazon rating of 5 stars). Lev Grossman, in "Time" magazine, lists the novel as one of the seven books he's looking forward to in 2012. "Publisher's Weekly" gave the novel a starred review (no link as you have to be a subscriber to see any content on their website), and "Library Journal" described it as: "Part suspense, part dark humor, this debut is rumored to be one of those up-all-nighters." Which isn't too shabby. The author has his own website set up for the book and there is a Youtube video: |
