More a faceless-woman fixation, I'd say. If you look at the covers of short-story collections published in the 70s and 80s you can see at least half a dozen featuring a picture of a woman whose face is obscured by a large hat. At least one of them is naked (apart from the hat), and only one of them, a Sidney Nolan (I think) cover for The Aunt's Story, has anything at all to do with the book's contents.
