PEACHES AND POLITICS

A witness before the Film Commission suggests that if moving picture studios were established at Canberra, the place might become a second Hollywood.

If Canberra were Hollywood,
I'd hitch my wagon to a star,
And, for my country's lasting good,
   Seek to become an M.H.R.
Or storm the Senate's door, I should,
   If Canberra were Hollywood.

If Canberra were Hollywood,
I'd give up work, and legislate
And earn a modest livelihood,
By passing laws to serve the State,
With time off, be it understood,
   If Canberra were Hollywood.

If Canberra were Hollywood,
   I'd move adjournments frequently,
So Honorable Members could
   "Inspect our local industry."
Then, gosh! The "eyes" would have it, good,
   If Canberra were Hollywood.
