My friend and whilom colleague, C. J. Dennis, whose interviews with his acquaintances at Gunn's Gully have become so well known as to make people look for the little town in Bradshaw's Guide, is about to rejoin the staff of The Herald. There is a lure about printers' ink which is irrestible, so I am not surprised that Mr Dennis felt a nostalgia that drew him away from the gum trees of his country home at Toolangi to take up the mingled joy and fret of newspaper life. His keen observation, his delightful humor and his sympathetic insight will once more be employed in the service of readers. No wonder a bloke gets sentimental at the return of such a prodigal writer. Herald, 4 February 1927, p6 |
