SHY OR SLY?
W’en ‘ere’s some people at our house,
To see my ma or sister Lil,
Ay say I’m ist a ‘ittle mouse,
I is so quiet ‘n’ ‘at, ‘n’ still;
‘Cos I don’t know ist what to say
W’en I’m expected to reply,
Ay pat me in a nice, kind way,
‘N’ say I’s shy.
But afterwards, w’en ‘e’re all gone,
I ‘member ist the way to talk;
‘N’ I put comic faces on,
‘N’ mock the funny way they walk.
‘En ma tries hard so’s I won’t see
The laugh ‘at’s comin’ in her eye,
‘N’ ‘tends to be annoyed with me,
‘N’ says I’s sly.
