GOIN' DOWN TO THE SHOW
'Tis the glad September time --
Everything is in its prime,
An' the Show is goin' strong.
Hip, hurray! an' get along.
All of us upon the go:
Goin' down to see the Show.
Men from North an' South an' West,
Women togged up in their best;
Men an' maids of ev'ry sort --
Some for business, some for sport;
All of 'em upon the go:
Goin' down to see the Show.
Wooly men from way out-back,
Thousands be the name of Jack;
Some alone an' some in pairs,
Some with all their fam'ly cares;
All of 'em upon the go:
Goin' down to see the Show.
Hairy men from Emu Hill,
Thousands be the name of Bill;
Calves and cattle "ombongpong,"
All a-hurrying along;
All of 'em upon the go:
Goin' down to see the Show.
Spieler men intent on gain,
Talkin' of crops an' rain;
Pigs an' dogs an' poulterie,
Lashin's of machinery;
All of 'em upon the go:
Goin' down to see the Show.
City men and country men,
Sheep and ducks and cock and hen;
Men from out the mallee scrub
Wot are stoppin' at the pub;
All of 'em upon the go:
Goin' down to see the Show.
Horsey men in ridin' pants,
Vegetables, flowers, an' plants;
Carts an' traps an' drays an' ploughs;
Horses, geese, an' cats an' cows;
All of 'em upon the go:
Goin' down to see the Show.
Ain't we just a merry crew?
Ain't got nothin' else to do.
'Tis the glad September time,
Everything is in its prime.
Hip, hurray! an' off we go:
Goin' down to see the Show.
