O'Hara told me that Dennis was getting one thousand pounds a year for the stuff [he] has in Herald: I don't think the Herald gets much value for their money but the Public - (never too far away from the ape) seems to approve. I like to think Dennis is getting easy money (I hardly think he gets the one thousand pounds) but its humiliating that he should descend into such rubbish in verse and prose just to get a crust. ....
